The lemon heads are back this week with episode 004 of The EZPZ Podcast. We’re afraid to announce that there will never be another episode 004 of the podcast. No worries, we will be back next week with the final episode 005 of the podcast. Now onto the show notes! We got to do a photo shoot, we got to do a photo shoot! Thanks to Estorie Photography and Graham Gardner Photography we got some really cool promotional shots of us. We will be posting them on theEZPZ.com and @TheEZPZ’s Twitter and Instagram. We dove right into the show recap. Shaun and Nick went to The Story So Far, Four Year Strong and Terror show at Wooly’s in Des Moines. Terror’s frontman, Scott Vogel, proved he is still the best frontman in hardcore. Shaun and Nick spoke about how their set brought out the biggest mosh pit. Four Year Strong are releasing their new, self-titled album, which is produced by Kurt Ballou at GodCity Records, is being released on June 2nd via Pure Noise Records. Four Year Strong put on an equally electrifying show. Four Year Strong’s set was enough for Shaun to proclaim that he was going to buy their next album. The lemon heads were somewhat perplexed that Parker Cannon, the lead singer of The Story So Far, just sang into the mic stand. The last time Shaun and Nick saw The Story So Far at Warped Tour 2014, Parker was a mad man on the stage. It ended up being fine because he sounded a lot better. Interlude: “It Must Really Suck To Be Four Year Strong Right Now” by Four Year Strong
Cinco De Mayo has come and gone. Dan had a hilarious story of what happened to him while he was celebrating over a margarita. Nick spoke about how he got a tattoo by Paul Nycz, a well-known tattooer at Iron Heart Tattoo in Des Moines, Iowa. He explained he got the tattoos “Rise” and “Above” as a tribute to some Black Flag lyrics. The lemon heads fell down the lemon hole and chatted about Tony Hawk Pro Skater games and Silent Hill games. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 was announced for the PS4 and Xbox One with a release date sometime this year. Interlude: Unreleased track by Mura Masa Shaun stumbled on a music video by a face-tatted, white rapper known as Stitches and knew he had to share it with the other lemon heads. Then they chatted about how Stitches represents everything that is wrong with rap. He is a bad rapper that is also a well-known drug dealer raps about selling cocaine, money, drugs, and bitches. Right before the podcast, we all watched a video of a Stitches concert where he brought five of “the hottest bitches” on stage to do a “bump” with him. It was insane and pretty dumb of the women who partook since it is officially on the Internet forever. Music break: “Brick In Yo’ Face” by Stitches
Since we started this podcast in early April, the lemon heads wanted to catch the listeners up with their favorite releases of the year thus far. You can click here to see our lists. The beginning of the year was ruled by rap and hip-hop. Drake, Earl Sweatshirt, Big Sean, Tyler, the Creator and Kendrick Lamar, who arguably released the best album of the year. Dan made it a point to bring up two of his favorite pieces of work, Mura Mara’s Someday Somewhere and Sam Gallaitry Short Stories EP. Both artists are under 20-years-old. Dan and Shaun state how rare it is to hear a producer that young make such intricate beats. It seems that most kids their age that are doing anything musically are in a punk band. Dan’s honorable mentions also include producer-prodigy: OSHI. The EZPZ expects big things from the 17-year-old who is rumored to sign to Soulection Records at some point this year. Shaun spouted out some of his favorite albums, you can read the full list here. Music break: “Temple” by Sam Gallaitry
